Au total, 641 cantonniers répartis sur 6 axes des routes en terre battue dans la province du sud-kivu seront de retour pour l’entretien permanent des routes après plus de deux ans d’absence.
Une bonne nouvelle pour les usagers des 2.428 kilomètres des routes en terre battue que compte la province.

Ces usagers qui souhaitaient voir la reprise de l’entretien permanent par cartonnage manuel des routes sur l’étendue de la province du Sud-Kivu après les travaux mécanisés.
Aujourd’hui l’on compte plus des 70℅ des routes en mauvais état.
Avec cette reprise, elle améliorera les conditions de vies des populations rurales de 8 territoires, et contribuera à l’économie des provinces de l’Est de la Rdc.
A travers l’Office des Routes sud-kivu, le Fonds National d’Entretien Routier (FONER) lance progressivement le payement des arriérés de salaires des cantonniers.
Les usagers encouragent la politique de la nouvelle Directrice Générale a.i du FONER, Madame Géorgine Selemani Julia qui fait la ronde des provinces pour palper les réalités que connaîssent les usagers des routes de la RDC.
Les observateurs pensent que le Gouvernement Congolais doit bannir l’ancien système des attributeurs politiciens qui avaient connu un échec.
Par contre, les transporteurs envisagent que la tâche d’entretien des routes en terre battue revienne aux autorités locales comme à l’époque Belge où les chefs des villages et sous villages organisaient régulièrement le cartonnage manuel entre leurs villages et veillaient aux barrières des pluies.
Ces derniers remercient les deux Directeurs Provinciaux du FONER, Monsieur Édouard Balolebwami Mushekuru et celui de l’Office des Routes Sud-Kivu, Anicet Kakesa Tamukombo pour leur accompagnement et suivi régulier du dossier des cantonniers au niveau National.
Les atributeurs du sud-kivu ont reçu 1 mois de salaires des cantonniers de l’Office des Routes.
