La culée du côté Bukavu est attaquée par les eaux de la rivière Kawizi en débordement.
Selon des sources concordantes, si rien ne se fait dans l’urgence, ce pont sera attaqué et emporté d’ici-là.
Les usagers de la Route Nationale numéro Cinq (RN5) axe Bukavu – Uvira – Lulimba – Namoya – Kasongo et Lulimba – Kalemie alertent les autorités.
Récemment construit par l’entreprise Sino Hydro sous la mission de contrôle de l’Office des Routes Sud-Kivu dans le cadre du programme d’urgence des 100 jours du président de la République, l’ouvrage est menacé quelques temps seulement suite à la négligence humaine.
En dehors de ce pont, on signale d’autres ponts du tronçon routier Kamanyola – Uvira dans la plaine de la Ruzizi qui présentent aussi des dangers d’écroulement.
