Vendredi 26 Janvier 2024, le directeur général du Cadastre Minier (CAMI) M. Popol Mabolia, a reçu dans son bureau de travail à Gombe Mme Joanne Lebert, Directrice Générale de l’ONG IMPACT, accompagnée de son Conseiller en gouvernance, M.Félicien Mbikayi.
Lors de cette entrevue, les discussions ont principalement porté sur la présentation de deux (2) projets phares mis en œuvre par la structure partenaire du Ministère des Mines, renseigne la cellule de communication du Cadastre Minier.
Le Premier projet vise à garantir la protection des communautés locales affectées par les activités minières en réponse aux défis posés par le changement climatique.
Le Deuxième projet se concentre sur l’autonomisation financière des femmes en général, et des filles-mères en particulier dans le but de contribuer à réduire la présence de femmes et d’enfants dans les mines.
Rappelons qu’en République Démocratique du Congo, scandale géologique, l’on dénombre des cas et allégations de pollution de l’environnement par les activités minières causés par le non-respect des mesures d’atténuation et de mitigation des impacts environnementaux et le dysfonctionnement des services étatiques chargés de contrôle. Ce qui occasionne parfois des déplacements forcés des populations.
Aussi faudra-t-il, le souligner qu’en RDC, des familles en situation d’extrême pauvreté envoient leurs jeunes enfants travailler dans des conditions « d’esclavage » dans des mines de cobalt toxiques qui menacent leur santé.
« Certains enfants sont emmenés dans la zone minière dès l’âge de 3 ans. Lorsqu’ils atteignent l’âge de 6 ans, ils aident à porter les sacs de mines », selon des témoignages sur terrain.
Tenez, ces enfants sont employés dans divers secteurs tels que les mines de cuivre et de cobalt en RDC. Ils sont exposés à de nombreux dangers tels que les effondrements, l’inhalation de gaz toxiques et les abus sexuels. Cette exposition à des substances toxiques entraîne également des problèmes de santé pour les générations futures.
